⚠️ THE MAIN BONE OF BEAUTY and a Hollywood smile ⤵️

Dear friends, today we are going to talk about the upper jaw (maxilla), which plays a key role for facial work, as it affects⬇️

✓ bite formation
✓ facial asymmetry (position of the facial bones of the skull)
✓ the shape of the nose and nasal breathing
✓ the appearance of nasolabial folds, wrinkles between the eyebrows and the back of the nose
✓ the position of the cheekbones
✓ eyes (congestion, bags, etc.).

One of the branches of the trigeminal nerve runs through the upper jaw, and dysfunctions in this area of the skull can directly affect the innervation of the face! Therefore, intraosseous tension, clips between the cranial sutures - all of these must be subtly worked out 🌿

Why do bite problems and dental crowding occur? Why do some people have narrow jaws and others have wide jaws?

There is a genetic predisposition, of course, but the biomechanical factor plays a big role.

The upper jaw is directly connected to the base of the skull and if dysfunctions have already occurred embryologically or as a result of birth trauma, the development of the upper jaw can be inhibited. It ‘cannot’ move forward, there is tension between the suture of the upper jaws (palatal suture) and they also ‘shrink’ and the teeth become severely crooked🥺.

A horizontally developed face, i.e. a raised and slightly extended upper jaw is the standard of beauty ☘️ After all, the parameters and position of the maxillae determine how the nose, eyes, cheekbones, palate, upper teeth, lower jaw are positioned. Even the way you smile.

What methods can be used to influence this?

1️⃣ Maxillofacial surgery. But it is worth considering the high traumatic nature and long rehabilitation. Patients I have met have been recovering for 1-2 years!

2️⃣ Faceplasty and Osteopathy.
I pay a lot of attention to working with the upper jaw, but it can only be worked on effectively after the base of the skull has been released. Then the upper jaw starts to move forward, and then it can be expanded with special techniques.

We regularly receive good feedback from patients who undergo orthodontic treatment at the same time. Orthodontists see how much the bite changes for the better after osteopathy and faceplasty sessions at our clinic.

In addition, by working with the skull base and maxilla through faceplasty, it is possible to:

✓ Correct facial asymmetry
✓ Make the eye orbits aligned
✓ Align the nose, lift the cheekbones
✓ Eliminate nasolabial folds and bags under the eyes
✓ Relax the neck
✓ Improve breathing

That's what we'll work with you on in class tomorrow! Do come 🌱
