🤯 How do chewing muscles deform the face?

The chewing muscles are not only one of the strongest muscles in our body, but they are also often the most spasmed. They form the frame, the contour of our face and their condition determines how it looks!

❗️ Spasm of the chewing muscles leads to aggravation of nasolabial folds, the appearance of loose jowls, aggravates the lowering of the lip corners, erodes teeth, as well as changes the angle of youth!

There are 4 chewing muscles:

  • The chewing muscle (responsible for opening and closing the mouth, chewing)
  • Temporalis muscle (responsible for closing the mouth and pushing the lower jaw inwards);
  • Medial wing muscle (involved in chewing and responsible for moving the lower jaw to the left and right);
  • Lateral wing muscle
(responsible for the forward movement of the jaw).

They all attach to the lower jaw.

🔸Imbalance in muscle function, with one group of muscles on both sides of the face being tense to different degrees, spasm of the wing muscles attached to the base of the skull, asymmetry of the skull bones can lead to malfunction of the temporomandibular joint (pain, crunching, clicking).

🔸In addition, chewing muscle problems lead to aesthetic defects. A spasmed chewing muscle lifts the lower jaw upwards, changing the position of all the bones of the skull and deforming the muscular framework of the face😲

🔸 What do we end up with? The facial tissues that attach to the bones of the skull simply lose their ‘foundation’ and ‘flop’, forming multiple wrinkles and creases, the facial oval flops, you puff up more and are less happy with your reflection😩 The face turns from an elongated shape into a round one, becoming more massive and ugly.

Remember, any stress affects muscle tension, 95% of people have them in spasm.
